view over Perithia This historic Venetian manor house is one of six remaining on the Island, built by the Venetians for the ruling aristocrats in 16th century Corfu. Renovated over the past seven years by its English owners, local materials have been used to retain the original character and features wherever possible. The wonderful view from the vine-shaded patio takes your eyes down the valley, across the olive groves, to the sea and mountains of Albania.
grapes This property welcomes families with young children and has many safety aspects to enable parents with young children to relax and enjoy their holiday. sunset Villa Alexina is a large stone built house which, due to the original thick stone walls, remains cool in the very hot weather. The house features stone arches, ancient steps, old wooden doors, pots full of colour. Outside, an ancient grape vine provides ample shade over the marble patio where there is also a modern gas barbeque, as so many visitors wish to make use of this perfect place to sit, eat and watch the sun go down over the sea and distant mountains.
David Bellamy on the patio The villa is very well situated for access to the beaches or mountains behind. To the left, a grove of olives climbs the flanks of Mount Pantocrator; you can walk down through it to the village, which has three shops, two bars and a taverna. A bus ride, or short car journey, will take you to the busier resorts of Kassiopi and Sidari, for those with children or seeking water sports or nightlife. The beach at Agios Spyridon was Gerald Durrell's favourite; his great friend David Bellamy is a regular visitor to the villa, his widow Lee has also visited Villa Alexina.
architect designed swimming pool One of the strengths of this beautiful villa is that there are so many separate outdoor spaces - the swimming pool, the huge shaded patio, a large sun veranda and a small seating patio, as well as all the adjoining areas. This really suits family groups and groups of friends requiring sufficient area in order to share and obtain peace within the same space. How it all started...
